This year again five of our practices have been recognised for their work and we are also proud to see one of our associates enter the ranks for the first time next to our five ranked partners.

Banking & Finance

Our Banking & Finance team advises borrowers and banks on a range of asset-backed finance transactions and offers particular experience advising on project finance and refinancing mandates. Lawyers additionally support clients on debt restructuring, securitisation and payment services questions. One client shared that "The firm's lawyers are very flexible, which is what I like."  

Corporate and M&A

Our large Corporate & M&A Practice focuses on all aspects of corporate law, M&A, private equity and capital markets and the practice is well-known for advising on cross-border M&A transactions alongside the firm's network of international offices. The team frequently acts on matters involving the logistics, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors. When required, clients also benefit from the firm's integrated tax team. Feedback on the team indicates that they are "accessible and easy to work with," as well as being "very committed" and that head of practice David Roelens continues to be the key point of contact for clients.

Employment, Pensions & Benefits

The Employment Law practice advises on all aspects of individual and collective employment law and social security, including pensions and incentives. They often assist clients with issues around terminations, advising on in wrongful dismissal claims. The team also handles issues around harassment and workplace accidents. In addition, they advise on working time legislation, whistle-blowing claims and salary issues. Client feedback includes "good experience with the quality of the team's work."

Notable practitioner Stijn Demeestere advises clients on harassment claims, working time regulations, accidents in the workplace and salary issues. He also assists with collective and individual terminations, as well as claims for wrongful dismissal.
 

Climate & Sustainability

We have been steadily increasing our focus on sustainability and EU energy and climate law and are proud that Dominique Vanherck has now entered the rankings on the back of positive client feedback, with one highlighting her "very in-depth subject matter expertise, as well as her very good presentation skills and project and stakeholder management." She has a particular focus on renewables (solar power and wind) and the development of (energy) infrastructure projects and advises both public and private sector clients inter alia on renewable energy support mechanisms, the development of energy communities, direct electricity lines, district heating networks, permits required for the construction and operation of renewable energy projects and construction contracts. 

Real Estate

The "very good, hands-on and flexible" Real Estate Practice acts for Belgian developers on real estate transactions and redevelopment projects. They also advise REITs and REIMs on real estate transactions, including forward acquisitions and usufruct agreements for office buildings. They further assist with lease agreement negotiations for retail properties, and cooperate with the firm's tax department on real estate tax matters. Head of practice Maximilien van de Werve " is very competent, client-oriented and pragmatic." He advises clients on forward acquisitions and real estate divestments, particularly for commercial properties.

Tax

The Tax practice (Tax Advisory / Tax Dispute Resolution) offers significant experience acting for clients on contentious mandates before both domestic and European courts, representing clients in allegations of VAT fraud, income tax disputes, BEPS litigation and customs duties cases. The law firm offers additional experience in transfer pricing mandates. Recognised as notable practitioners, Danny Stas has a strong practice assisting with VAT and indirect tax matters, including investigations by the Belgian Special Tax Inspectorate, and Luc De Broe advises clients on investigations by the Belgian Special Tax Inspectorate. He assists clients from the real estate and manufacturing industries.
