Meet our 2021 Promotions

Director - Glenn Hansen

03 March 2022

In this Q&A series we want to put our newly promoted colleagues in the picture. Our second entry in the series is Glenn Hansen, Director in the Commercial Law team.

Deloitte Legal-Lawyers (DL): Congratulations on your promotion end of 2021 to Director!  What are you most looking forward to in the coming months?

Thank you! I am very proud of having achieved this important milestone, 12 years after having started my career here at LAGA/ Deloitte Legal.

Like everyone, and that is my professional wish for 2022, I am looking forward to more freedom. Freedom to organize physical events and opportunities to re-connect with colleagues and clients.

DL: What are the main challenges you see?

In a continuously and quickly transforming world, it is important to evolve together with our clients and to truly understand our clients’ businesses As legal has such a significant impact on clients and their business, a lawyer needs to be so much more than just a legal advisor; a lawyer needs to be a true business partner.

DL: What are your key focus areas?

Being responsible for the Dispute resolution team, we focus on all kinds of disputes, in a wide range of areas: corporate, commercial B2B and B2C, criminal, etc. Not only do we represent clients before court, but we also assist in arbitration and mediation proceedings
I focus specifically on enterprises in financial distress (insolvency & restructuring) and white collar crime.

DL: What do you most enjoy about your job?

Without any doubt, the diversity. As our team handles such a variety of cases, not one day is the same. That also allows me to get acquainted with various industries and to collaborate with many colleagues from different backgrounds.

DL: If you look back at yourself when you started, what advice would you give yourself?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and regular feedback. Feedback is of the utmost importance to improve and advance your personal and professional development.

DL: Do you have any recommendations for lawyers wanting to advance their own knowledge?

Do not stop learning and do not only learn by doing research and readings. Learn by doing: be eager to treat all kinds of different cases, reach out to colleagues having another expertise than yourself and connect actively with clients.

Every new connection, brings new insights.

DL: Are there any closing thoughts you would like to share?

I am very much looking forward to the coming years within our organization. COVID-19 has given us various challenges to do our jobs and to do business in general, but we have shown that we can manage them with resilience. With such talent and drive in our organisation, we have a bright future ahead of us.
