Greenille by Laga interviewed on surviving spouses' position regarding donations in the new inheritance law

Children will need to wait longer to benefit from gifts, with priority given to surviving spouses

Hélène Casman and Bart Verdickt from Greenille by Laga were recently interviewed by the De Tijd newspaper regarding the position of surviving spouses in relation to gifts, as per the new inheritance law which enters into force on 1 September 2018.

Before the new inheritance law came to light, children were the sole beneficiaries of gifts following a parent's death. In the article, Hélène and Bart provide their insights and clarify the changes and workings brought by the new law, which sees gift ownership shift from children to surviving spouses.
